Sunday, May 5, 2019 – Small Boats: REGISTRATION for the small boat race opens at FGPC at 9 am on Sunday 5 May (upper deck at 2940 Jutland Road, Victoria). The small boat race is scheduled to leave the start line at FGPC at 10 am on Sunday 5 May.
Location: Fairway Gorge Paddling Club, 2940 Jutland Road, Victoria BC.
The Brotchie Reach races take place at the Fairway Gorge Paddling Club (FGPC) on the Selkirk waterfront in Victoria. The OC6 Brotchie Reach race (Saturday 4 May) is a 13.5 km race from FGPC through Victoria’s inner, middle and outer harbours, around navigational buoy V21 to the Brotchie Ledge marker and back, although the race course may be adapted to suit conditions and safety.
The race has multiple divisions and categories; heats will be built based on the number of race entries:
- Men’s crews: 10 am start (standard and ultralights)
- Women’s crews: 11.30 am start (standard and ultralights)
- Mixed crews: 1 pm start (standard and ultralights)
Please note that this is an open-field race; canoes are not automatically supplied to registered teams. Teams are responsible for securing their own boats (spec or ultralight) or for bringing their own. Requests of local clubs, including FGPC, can be made to borrow boats for the race. FGPC is limited to 9 OC6s in its fleet and requests to borrow equipment are handled on a first-requested, first served basis. Your registration does not automatically provide you with a boat if you’re not bringing your own. The Brotchie Small Boat Races (Sunday 5 May) will run approximately 13.5km along the same course as the OC6 boats. The small boat course may be altered on race day, depending on conditions and safety.
Race Schedule: first races start at 10am. As registrations, rosters and waivers are completed in advance, check-in opens at 9.30am. The first steers meeting (for the men’s heat) will be held at 9.45am and then 15 minutes before the start of the women’s and mixed heats.
Please note: Individual Electronic Waivers must be on file for each paddler, along with CORA 2019 paddler memberships.

Event Cancellation/Refund Policy
There will be 25% administrative fee for all withdrawals. The final date to withdraw a team from the event is April 24, 2019. There will be no refunds of any type after this date, including if the event is cancelled due to safety reasons.
Registration and Payment

- Paid up crews will receive a roster form closer to the event date. All paddlers are required to complete a FGPC online waiver before competing in any of these events. Once the waiver is completed, the paddler will not be required to complete an additional waiver for subsequent events.
